Rules of the Road
Rules of the Road
The following are rules of the road for participation in the Irregular Times diaries, as written by the editors of Irregular Times.
1. The Irregular Times Diaries are part of Irregular Times, an online journal written since 1994. While this site is non-partisan, it certainly is organized around a set of questions and ideas, and the Irregular Times Diaries have been set up as a way for people in similar questions and ideas to have a say and begin conversations.
2. This website does not empower free speech. It empowers paid speech. We’re paying plenty of money to provide a place for you to speak. Your speech here is like publication in a journal — a privilege that is earned rather than a right. We’re the editors, which means that ultimately we get to decide whether you get to keep posting or not. Believe me, we tolerate a lot of bullshit. If you’re so obnoxious as to obstruct discussion, if you’re trying to hijack the board for your own nefarious purposes, if you’re a spammer, or if you engage in any illegal or threatening behavior, you’re begging to be tossed.
3. That’s it. End of discussion. No, really. That’s it. Have at it!
