Although we at Irregular Times love web pages, blogs, e-mail and all sorts of newfangled 21st century modes of communication, we also believe that the older forms of communication are vital and exciting aspects of our culture. We love the postal mail in particular, the way that we've developed a public system through which physical messages flow like water across the globe, faster than mountain rivers. There's something special about getting a piece of mail from someone you love, envy or admire.
It's traditional in our country for friends to send greeting cards on days of special meaning. For the greeting card industry, those days of special meaning are as old as the hills - Christmas, Easter, Birthday, Thanksgiving, Anniversary. But there are other days that are special to us, too. As progressives, United Nations Day, Darwin Day and International Peace Day offer time for reflections. Then there is Election Day -- which in the current election cycle is very special indeed.
What's to keep a body from sending a Happy Darwin Day card, or an Election Day card? Well, nothing really, except the strictures of propriety and the logistic problem of the actual existence of such cards.
When it comes to dealing with pressures of propriety, you're on your own, brothers and sisters. But if you're ready to get a little kitschy, a little krazy and go out on a limb, we've got the greeting cards for you. Don't let Hallmark tell you when the right time is. Check these greeting cards out -- if one speaks to you, consider using it to speak to someone else you know.
All greeting cards will be sent to you by our production pardner CafePress, which has a secure server and a customer service line and all that nifty jazz. Just click on the image of a greeting card you like to get yourself some and start a new trend.
