irregular times arrow pathsIt is a time of fear in the face of freedom, a time for the widening of previous roads and the opening of new paths, a time of an emptying country and swelling cities, yet a time when these paths are mined by knowing algorithms of the all-seeing eye. It is the time of the warrior's peace and the miser's charity, when the planting of a seed is an act of conscientious objection.

These are the times when maps fade and direction is lost. Forwards is backwards now, so we glance sideways at the strange lands through which we are all passing, knowing for certain only that our destination has disappeared. We are unready to meet these times, but we proceed nonetheless, adapting as we wander, reshaping the Earth with every tread. Behind us we have left the old times, the standard times, the high times. Welcome to the irregular times.

Tennessee Republicans Support Racial Eugenics

Filed under Election 2004, Politics, Republicans, Science, State and Local by Peregrin Wood at 12:31 pm

Every now and then, a candidate comes along who reminds us just what is really at stake in the struggle between the Republicans and the Democrats. One such candidate has been nominated in Tennessee’s 8th Congressional District this year.

The Republican candidate’s name is James Hart, and he is running on a platform of eugenics (selective breeding of humans) based on Americans’ racial identities. The image below is taken straight from Hart’s web site (I added the “voter alert” to make it clear that the graphic is not our own idea):

tennessee republican eugenics platform

The Republicans in the 8th District of Tennessee actually nominated this man, who is running on the archaic idea of opposing the mixing of races. In all of the district, no other Republican bothered to make a stand against this racist Jim Crow nonsense. No one in the Tennessee Republican Party stood in the way of making racial purity a part of the Republican Party’s message.

When we say that the Republicans in the South are running campaigns based on a racist agenda or re-establishing segregation, we’re not exaggerating. The Republican-endorsed candidacy of James Hart in Tennessee is remarkable in that his campaign dares to talk about what other Republicans merely hint at with a wink and a nod.

What’s really ironic is that this ultra-conservative method relies on pseudoscience that twists the concept of biological evolution. The same voters who oppose the teaching of biological evolution in the public schools, and insist on the teaching of Christian Creationism are willing to rely on a distortion of biological evolution to gain power.

For the record, scientific evidence shows clearly that the Southern Republican idea of race is insupportable. “African-Americans” and “European-Americans” in the South share a great deal more ancestry than most would like to admit. There is no evidence of any inherent superiority in any human ethnic group, and Mr. Hart’s strange eugenic agenda just does not make any scientific sense.

Those people who talk so proudly about the New South need to watch carefully to make sure that the Old South does not creep back in with the ascendency of the New Old Republican Party.

  1. Wow, J. Clifford. I thought this was a sick joke, but this guy is really running as the official Republican candidate! THIS is the face of the Republican Party.

If you don’t think Republican James Hart is serious in his racist eugenics, think again. Read excerpts from his outline of the top policy priority of his campaign:

“The reason for Detroit’s decline is that there are less ‘favored races’ in Detroit with an average IQ of 85 and more ‘favored races’ in Japan with an average IQ of 104. (It is noted there are less ‘favored races’* in Africa south of the Sahara with an average IQ of 70-75, which accounts for the extreme poverty there.)”

“If we had integrated with less ‘favored races’* centuries ago, there would have never been an electric light. There would never have been an airplane. Unless we stop dysgenic welfare and immigration policies, the US will look like one big Detroit.”

“I will save our cities by stopping welfare and immigration and replacing it with a war on poverty genes.”

  4. Eh, blacks have much lower IQs espicially in the South where they are more pure negro, averaging only 80 IQs. Not only that, but half of all blacks carry herpes and 1 in 20 has HIV. When you have a large population that is much more prone to low IQ, STDs, and crime the best possible policy for public welfare is to keep that diseased population quarantined so as to not infect the rest of the human race with their filth.

  5. Really, Johnnyb? Prove it. Don’t just spread your garbage. Prove it.

Johnnyb is an example of the kind of nasty attitude that this article talked about four years ago.
