Caught part of a broadcast on NPR tonight about passage of H.R. 1592 against hate crimes with addition of gays to bill. Someone was going on against the bill, saying it was terrible the bill had been passed on national prayer day and the passage of the bill itself amounted to a hate crime. NPR just broadcast the recorded quotation without comment,I was floored…have been unable to google the source of the quotation, but lots of spooky lies out there about the “why does conyers hate grandmothers” bill.

The bill refers to crime that “is motivated by prejudice based on the actual or perceived race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability of the victim, or is a violation of the State, local, or Tribal hate crime laws.” So it looks to me that any crime based on racial prejudice is covered by the law, although you already know who is more likely to play the race card. And according to the crime statistics Phil supplied, blacks almost always murder other blacks. How is this hate crime?
