And Who is the Corporate Whoriest of them All?

In the years 2003-2004, which U.S. Senators nabbed the most campaign contributions from the political action committees of the Fortune 100 — the hundred largest corporations in the United States? Ah, so. Chuck Grassley is the biggest corporate whore in the whole U.S. Senate – AND – he’s been in the news very prominently as of late, proposing a wide series of “reforms”. Hm….

Here in Pencil Tuckie we have Murtha. No one seems to remember ABSCAM, guy says right on camera, “I have larceny in my soul” as he’s selling out the people he represents…and he’s still there. Who does it say more about: him or the people who elected him?

  3. J. Matthew says:

Well, John Murtha is a member of the House. This is a measure of Senators.

But I’m not a big fan of Murtha either. He hardly has a progressive record, as you can see by comparing him to others on our House of Representatives Page.

Ahh, yes, I’m stuck with Lisa — the PTA activist from Alaska — “Daddy’s Lil Girl.” Not only was she appointed to be Senator when her daddy, Frank gave up his Senate seat to take over the Governorship — he’s long time friends with Ted Stevens. Lisa was a handpicked nomination because she won’t buck Uncle Teddy too much. When she was in danger of losing her actual election, Uncle Teddy ran a hard-hitting ad that a “vote for Lisa was a vote for him.”

Republican politics up here are a tad bit sucky.

Well, then, perhaps this morning’s article about how the Democrats actually have the popular majority of Senate votes, but don’t have the ruling majority in the Senate because of low-population Republican states like Alaska, might strike a raw nerve with you.
