![]() | Tom Delay Dines With Elites, Attacks Working Class Americans |
Mother Davis wakes up to a morning without gourmet coffee served on a silver platter as she reflects,
It used to be that Republicans politicians tried to earn the votes of blue-collar Americans by accusing their opponents of being “liberal elites”. The suggestion was that liberals politicians didn’t really care about working people - a strange idea, given that it’s liberals who support raising the minimum wage, and it’s Republican politicians who are fighting against the right of American workers to organize for better pay.
Now, one of the most powerful Republicans in the House of Representatives appears to be abandoning all pretense of representing working Americans. Last night, Texas congressman Tom DeLay dined filet mignon with a group of Republican insiders at a ballroom in a Washington D.C. hotel, then stood up and announced to the room that the Democratic Party must be defeated because Democrats have “no class”.
No class? Since when is it a requirement of American politics that a person be of a certain social class?
Let’s talk about the elites, then. Tom DeLay has been caught taking what amounts to bribes from corporate lords and ladies. He’s worked with the Bush Administration to cut medical care for low-income workers, and is helping President Bush break the promise of the Social Security Trust Fund that has been made to the widows and orphans of Americans who have worked hard their entire lives.
That makes Tom DeLay the Sheriff of Nottingham to George W. Bush’s King John. So, you’ll forgive those of us who don’t have enough class to satisfy this notorious pair are considering a revolt. We’ll get our chance in 2006, when each and every one of the Republican lords and ladies in the House of Representatives are up for re-election.
Finishing up her scrambled eggs because she just doesn’t have filet mignon around the house,
Mother Davis
It is a time of fear in the face of freedom, a time for the widening of previous roads and the opening of new paths, a time of an emptying country and swelling cities, yet a time when these paths are mined by knowing algorithms of the all-seeing eye. It is the time of the warrior's peace and the miser's charity, when the planting of a seed is an act of conscientious objection.

I’m weary of seeing so many “Support our Troops” yellow ribbon bumber stickers, most of which also seem to imply support for Bush’s wars.
Here’s a thought. How about a yellow ribbon bumper sticker that reads:
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS.
IMPEACH BUSH!

How about one that simply reads:
“SUPPORT OUR TROOPS-BRING THEM HOME!”

Although I like the second sentiment of yours, Paul..

God bless ya muddah!
When you see the yellow ribbons on peoples cars, pull up next to them in traffic and ask why they have not enlisted in the marines. This is their war. They voted for the BushoFacists who started the war, and they should be called on their hyprocacy for not wanting to be in Iraq.
Abbie Hoffman is alive.

You know, we’ve also got some alternative ribbon designs on buttons and bumper stickers. The comments you’ve made here are inspiring me to create some more this morning.

Hare Trinity, I just finished watching on NBC News the story of a family in the American Midwest whose son wwas killed in action this week in Iraq…The young man, when asked why he didn’t go to college, replied,”Why should only the poor kids go?” When will we bring these good, brave, BADLY-misused young people home? Pardon my possible misspelling but I’m writing this through the tears in my eyes…Vietnam with sand…

Maybe we should just ban war and brace ourselves. The clash of the titans (building up against each other or just smashing those weaker than them to bits) routine is disgusting…
It really is a shame that we have this irresponsible show of ignorance going on in 2005…
