![]() | Irregular Goods now accepting Ithaca Hours |
We at Irregular Times are proud to announce that we are now accepting Ithaca Hours as payment for a selection of our progressive buttons and magnets and our truly liberal discount bulk bumper stickers. What the heck, we’ll throw in our progressive political sneaker badges as well.
Ithaca Hours are a local currency that has become an integral part of the regional economy in the area around the small city of Ithaca, in the Finger Lakes part of New York State. Hundreds of businesses accept Ithaca Hours just as they would accept US Dollars. The idea is to use the local currency to keep money within the community by encouraging people to get their goods and services from small, locally-owned businesses instead of from huge chain stores that send most of their profits out of state and into corporate bank accounts.
One Ithaca Hour is worth ten dollars. There are also Half Hour bills, Quarter Hour bills, and Eighth Hour bills in circulation, as well as the whopping big Two Hour denomination.
Ithaca Hours were named to remind people that when they spend their money, they’re spending the accumulated worth of their time as well. People devote periods of their lives to the things that they buy, and we think it’s worth remembering that when we go out shopping for stuff.
For more information about how to use Ithaca Hours to buy from our collection of progressive bumper stickers, buttons, magnets, and more, check out the new Irregular Times page on Ithaca Hours.

Um, um… reading… scanning… processing…
Yeah, ok, BobSK. As a matter of fact, yes, yes! We’ll do it. Just give us a couple of days to sign up and get the logistics figured out for NC, how to do it in a parallel fashion to NY.
So look for an announcement regarding NC Plenty currency exchange some time this week or early next.
Thank you, Thank you, BobSK-you-are!
