John Orman for Senate

Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman has long been out of touch with the progressive side of the Democratic Party. From the moment the George W. Bush took office, Senator Lieberman has been President Bush’s favorite Democrat, eagerly helping President Bush to get special tax favors for wealthy Americans. Lieberman stood with President Bush in promoting the invasion of Iraq, and says he’s still glad that the Iraq war took place, even though it’s turned out to be a quagmire, and in spite of the fact that President lied to Congress in order to get the war started. Lieberman has even stated that he doesn’t think that Americans ought to have the freedom to be non-religious. Senator Lieberman is a Democrat in name only.

S0, I’m glad to announce that Joseph Lieberman is being challenged by a true progressive Democrat, professor John Orman. Orman is everything that Joseph Lieberman is not – and he’s honest about it. Orman is not one of those cowardly progressive politicians who try to put on a pseudo-Republican face come election time.

Professor Orman has had this to say about Joseph Lieberman’s shameful politics:“Lieberman was wrong on his support of Bush’s claim that the Social Security System is in crisis. He was wrong to support Bush’s war on terror diversion into Iraq. He was wrong to support Attorney General Gonzalez for confirmation. Lieberman should just join the Republican Party.” Isn’t it refreshing to hear this kind of statement, after being subjected to Lieberman’s collaborationist, mealy-mouthed drivel year after year?

As I write this, the Orman for Senate web site is still a work in progress. However, we’re offering the following John Orman for Senate bumper stickers right now, for those folks who don’t want to wait for the underdog Orman campaign to get its online presence assembled.

One Response to John Orman for Senate

  1. J. Clifford says:

Note: John Orman dropped out of the race against Senator Lieberman, simply unable to gather the funds to make his campaign work.

However, since that time Ned Lamont, a prominent Connecticut Democrat, has entered the primary race against Lieberman. Lamont has independent financial resources, and the contacts necessary to make fundraising a success.

Lamont is a real progressive, anti-war from the start, with positions that Connecticut Democrats can really respect.
