John Roberts, Jr. On Freedom

According to the Washington Post, John Roberts voted “to uphold the arrest and detention of a 12-year-old girl for eating french fries on a Metro train.”

“Freedom Fries,” indeed.

Hello, Roberts. Goodbye, freedom.

But you see, um, that’s, um, MODERATE. Yes, um, it shore is. Rush Limbaugh tolded me so.

    Faaaaaabulous! Twink!

  2. Jim says:

Actually, Roberts is much more moderate than I would like to see on the bench. When compared to Scalia, Rhenquist or Thomas he is a person of concern more than anything. I have faced the fact that some of the most liberal Justices that have ever sat on the bench were appointed by Republican Presidents. Case in point would be Warren, whom Ike referred to as the biggest mistake he ever made in his entire life. Blackum was appointed by Nixon, and he was eventually much more of problem to the court than anything.
The court needs more checks and balances, and these were some of the highlights of the anti-federalist paper written during the constitutional delegation process (which it should be noted that Jefferson was never a part of and therefore his personal statement in a personal letter regarding seperation of church classic example at activist judges). In the Anti-federalist papers it was suggested that the judicial branch stood the chance of grabbing too much power without the ability of the congress or executive branch being able to veto opinions. It is a flaw that we still have to fix, and if it would be fixed the left and the right would be less worked up over the appointment of associate justices.

When a conservative like our visitor Jim tells me to calm down and not get worked up about John G. Roberts, that’s a good sign that there’s something regarding Roberts about which I should get riled up.

  4. Mother Davis says:

Um, John Roberts worked to re-establish racial segregation.

John Roberts has tried to help overturn the Endangered Species Act and end all environmental regulation.

John Roberts has given special legal assistance to the wacko right-to-life group Operation Rescue, which harasses women in the attempt to prevent them from getting birth control.

John Roberts has ruled from the bench that prisoners of war do not have to be give protection under the Geneva Conventions.

John Roberts has ruled from the bench that public school officials have the right to force students to participate in religious worship.

    What’s moderate about that?

  5. Laura says:

Mother Davis, where did you get your info on Roberts? I would like to be armed with more information.

    Thanks.
