Bush Nominates John Roberts to be Chief Justice of the United States. Let us count the ways in which Roberts is unfit.

This news just in: George W. Bush has re-nominated John Roberts, not just to become a regular justice on the Supreme Court, but to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who denigrates Americans’ “so-called right to privacy” to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who at the same time insists on privacy regarding his own official activities as an employee of the government to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who wanted to require Americans to carry National ID Cards to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who rejected equal rights for women to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who supported the handcuffed arrest of a 12-year old girl on the DC Metro for eating a French Fry to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who tried to pretend he wasn’t a member of the Federalist Society even though he was on its steering committee to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who argued it’s OK to use government resources to promote Judaism and Christianity, but not other religions, to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who says “we continue to believe that Roe was wrongly decided and should be overruled” to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who argued in court that the Americans With Disabilities Act doesn’t apply to injuries sustained on the job to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who ruled in favor of the Bush Administration’s policy of imprisonment without trial just before the Bush Administration tapped him to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who tried to restrict the activities of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who wrote it was fine for a bare majority to strip the Supreme Court of power to protect religious liberty to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who tried to use federal power to overrule state and local laws protecting Americans’ voting rights to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who wanted to make it harder for Americans to lodge Voting Rights Act complaints to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who thought it was OK to keep the kids of immigrants from getting public school education to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

Pick up the phone and call your United States Senators today. Let them know in no uncertain terms that John Roberts is the wrong man to be put in charge of America’s judicial future.

    He sounds like a real monster. Can’t we stop any of the Bush Administration’s plans going forwards?

    Oh, don’t you know, HareTrinity? The fix is already in. Roberts, as a mamber of the Steering Committee of the Federalist Society, has extreme-right-wing credentials that make him the Big-Business choice, therefore Bush’s choice. Bush was given specific instructions from his supporters…and I’m not talking about the voters. What we are witnessing is the coup d’etat’s finishing touches on their “Perfect Government”. To quote Jack Nickelson’s character in the movie Easy Rider:”Y’know, this used to be a helluva country…”
