An index of home-land insecurity:
* Number of New Yorkers killed in this weekend’s terrorist scare: ZERO
* Number of Guatemalans killed this weekend in a mudslide caused by a hurricane: At least 1,400
* Number of people killed in an earthquake in South Asia: Uncounted thousands
Now, guess which story got the most attention from the mainstream media.
That’s right, it was the rumors of explosive baby strollers in subterranean Manhattan.
I guess George W. Bush has very little to fear from a reality-based media.
It is a time of fear in the face of freedom, a time for the widening of previous roads and the opening of new paths, a time of an emptying country and swelling cities, yet a time when these paths are mined by knowing algorithms of the all-seeing eye. It is the time of the warrior's peace and the miser's charity, when the planting of a seed is an act of conscientious objection.

“with god on my side” and a little help from the “liberal media”.
hey, the people losing lives and loved ones in third world nations were not true christians, obviously, and they sure were not among george bush supporters. thus, no media attention required. after all, who’s paying the light bill around here, anyway?
