Irregular Times: News Unfit to Print Logo

Welcome to the irregular times.

Decay and Regrow in Autumn

At this time of the closing of the year, on the final day of the final warm week of the season, with the rains descending on us underneath dark clouds and amidst chilly winds, it seems appropriate to reflect that even in the deepest loss are found the materials from which regrowth is made possible. It’s the theme of autumn to accept the approach of loss, and prepare slowly for the recovery that will eventually come.

It is with these thoughts in my mind that I walked out from my back porch and found a maple stump covered in mosses and small white mushrooms, breaking down the old wood to become new soil.
