Hobbits Are For Real

It’s a hard morning for Creationists. First the noodles, now this. In a second, more serious blow to Creationists, scientists have announced the discovery of yet more fossilized skeletons of Homo floresiensis, the little pre-human people discovered last year in Indonesia. They lived, perhaps alongside Homo sapiens, as recently as 18,000 years ago – maybe even more recently than that.

Creationists have tried to deny that Homo floresiensis is in fact a separate, ancient species of human being from Homo sapiens, in spite of the dramatic skeletal differences between modern day human beings and the hobbits. Creationists have claimed that the skeletons were less than 6,000 years old (the age they believe the Earth to be) and that the small people were either just dwarfs or suffering from microencephaly.

The new finds prove that the Creationists are wrong. The ancient dates of the new finds corroborate the previous datings, and the newly found remains are consistent with the previously described specimens of Homo floresiensis.

Don’t worry too much for the Creationists. They are, ironically, adaptable. They’ll concoct some new story about an international conspiracy by evil scientists to make Creationists look silly. They’ll come up with some new, evidence-free proof that every word in the Bible is true. Maybe they’ll say that the Indonesian hobbits were one of the lost tribes of Israel – kind of a merging of Mormon theology with evangelical Christian denial. Whatever it takes to avoid stepping out of the world of the early 1800s.

as long as they go to curch every sunday and don’t take off the blinders they can still say they believe they are on their way to heaven.
    boy, talk about denial!
guess what, we are all going to die.
why can’t they just fess up to the fact that we don’t know what is after life and no book, no matter how “good”, has been able to prove otherwise. if complete contradiction is proven to be fact, then george bush can keep talking out of both sides of his mouth and i will no longer take him to task for it.
oh, that’s right, intelligent designers don’t need proof, they just believe.
