Mother Davis gets out her old Yankee walking sticks and prepares to stretch her legs as she relates,
After all the failures of Democrats in the Senate to stand up to the extremism of the Bush Administration and Republican Party, one might be tempted to give up, sit down, and say that there’s nothing we can do to stop the right wing from trashing the United States of America. Certainly, my old knees feel like they could do with a bit of a rest.
But then, just when despair starts to hit hard, along comes a leader who shows that she really cares. I’m talking about Jean Hay Bright, a progressive activist in Maine who is running for the United States Senate.
Jean Hay Bright is no liberal-come-lately. She’s been fighting for the traditional American values of liberty, justice, equality and compassion for decades now, and comes to the 2006 senatorial race in Maine having paid her dues.
The positions that Jean Hay Bright is taking in her campaign for the Senate are the positions that positive progressive Americans have been waiting for a candidate to take for years:
Maybe you’re tired. Maybe you’re discouraged. Maybe you’re just plain disgusted with the corruption, hypocrisy, scandal and lies that the Republican Congress has dumped on the USA.
Don’t give up. When things get tough, that’s the time when we most need to stand up and say, “Enough!”. Jean Hay Bright is a candidate that we progressives can trust, and she deserves our support.
Getting ready for an uphill march into 2006,
Mother Davis
