You may recall from earlier this week that popular fundamentalist televangelist Pat Robertson has been predicting God’s destruction of Dover, Pennsylvania in revenge for their election of a slate of pro-science candidates to the school board.
Well, according to Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, it turns out that the Christian Coalition — an organization founded and controlled for decades by that same Pat Robertson — is collapsing in upon itself.
Why, you ask? (Come on, ask why.) Yes, why, you ask?
Dear me, it seems that the Christian Coalition has been buying things left and right, and then refusing to pay the bills for them. According to AU, the Christian Coalition isn’t paying salaries for work completed, either. The Christian Coalition’s current administrator, Roberta Combs, has apparently been telling employees: “Don’t pay… They’ll never sue.”
In the meantime, a group of 10 African American employees of the coalition sued the Christian Coalition for making them come in the building through the back door and eat in a segregated lunch room.
Racially segregated workplace? Not paying the bills? Shirking responsibilities? It all must be some kind of “conservative moral values” thing I just don’t understand.
