Leaders and citizens in conservative America are up in arms about the presence of Mexican flags in protests against immigration legislation. Arizona House Republican J.D. Hayworth sputtered on the radio:
When you see the Mexican flags and other flags – rather than American flags – being hoisted at these demonstrations, you essentially are getting this message: ‘Yes, we are here illegally. No, we do not believe this to be your country. We do not believe in your laws . . . and we don’t believe you’re going to do anything about it.

I’m working at a 7-11 and the sonofabitches are so disrespectable, that our food isn’t good enough. They fucking make and import COCA COLA and sell it here cheaper than they sell regular coke. I believe the uproar is over the flag being flown at a governent building (one incident happened at a high school in Houston), not a private building. I BELIEVE I have heard that, at a government building, no other nation’s flag can be flown on the same pole as the American flag. I could be wrong.
However, in any case, I find it slightly ironic that the people flying the flag of Mexico are the same people who don’t want to be sent back there. Shouldn’t they be flying the US flag to show how much they love being in this country? I mean, if I was convicted of murder and didn’t want to receive the death penalty I wouldn’t display pictures of an electric chair or a gurney in a death chamber…
I don’t mind if they want to stay here and work and PAY TAXES- income tax, not just sales tax.

I DID read what was written. Other than exercising their right to free speech and being a little nutty, I think the comments should speak for themselves. Like I said, I don’t care who wants to come to this country to work and to follow the rules and to pay the appropriate taxes. And the people I’ve talked to at work seem to feel the same way as I do; none mentioned wanting to hurt or kill these people. Why would we want to hurt or kill people who want to work hard and make a better life for themselves??? All we ask is that they pay their taxes like the rest of us. That’s all.
I was commenting on the “don’t fly any other flag” part. It’s obviously not illegal to fly another country’s flag in the US; my point is that on government property, another country’s flag should not be on the same pole as the American flag.
Is it that these people who are immigrants (legal or otherwise) don’t pay their taxes, or that the people who employ them don’t do what they are supposed to? Is it the people who live three or four families to a house in an area that’s zoned for single family, or the one who rents it too them?

I think it’s great that people want to relocate to the U.S. to work, follow obey our laws and pay taxes. I just wish they’d come here legally, as so many from other countries do.
I have a good friend who’s here legally from Mexico. He’s one of the hardest-working law-abiding citzens I know. He worked to bring his parents and sister here too. My best friend came here legally from China in ’88. He waited his turn to become a citizen too, as did my ancestors from England and France. Why should someone who crawled thru a whole in a fence get to stay here; because some employers want to pay tiny wages and risk a fine?
