TagWorld Goes MySpace One Better

Back in February, I announced the creation of a space for Irregular Times on that soooper popular site MySpace. Honestly, I’ve been underwhelmed with the way that site works. It’s clunky, dominated by advertisements that center on sex, and in general not a great medium for political expression. Of course, I’ve got a few new “friends” there, though we never seem to talk to each other – I guess they’re MySpace acquaintances. Still, I see more progressives are trying to use MySpace for activist political networking, and that’s a good thing.

Let me suggest another resource for those people who, like me, are getting frustrated with the whole MySpace clutter and lack of flexibility. Try TagWorld. A few days ago, I set up a fledgling space representing Irregular Times on TagWorld, and I have to say that it’s superior by far.

The design interface at TagWorld is more clean and has a lot more potential for substantial use than MySpace. TagWorld could become like Blogger, but richer, thicker, and more chocolatey. Imagine a blog with added web page, and political music, video, and networking with eager young things who are ready for someone to offer them a chance to get involved. TagWorld lets me work in my own html if I want to, and with more flexibility, but I can work with plug and play modules too.

In short, TagWorld makes it possible for me to express my ideas without a lot of barriers or ads for sexy little things getting in my way. TagWorld beats MySpace hands down when it comes down to content over style.

Review summary:
MySpace is clunky, junky, stiff and limited for expression of ideas
TagWorld is smoother, cleaner, and more flexible, allowing for tremendous possibilities for grassroots political networks.
