As an issue of importance to the lives of Americans, illegal immigration is not even in the top ten.
Just for one minute, forget the Republican hype and think about the issue rationally. What’s besides the level of Americans’ fear, has changed with the issue of illegal immigration in the last twenty years?
When was the last terrorist attack within the United States that was the consequence of lax border security?
I can’t think of a single such attack. Maybe back to the Spanish-American war? The Civil War, perhaps?
The people who perpetrated the September 11, 2001 attacks entered the USA legally. Before that, the 2000 New Year’s Eve attempt to bomb the Space Needle in Seattle was thwarted by effective border security.
There is no evidence at all that Al Quaida agents have ever tried to enter the United States through Mexico.
The border security crisis is as real as the Social Security Crisis.
Forget the people who want you to freak out. It is time now for America to take a deep breath and put an end to the five year campaign of non-stop hyperventilation.
