Senator Christopher Dodd says that he will not make a final decision until early 2007, but he’s confident that between then and now he will be able to gather the sufficient resources to become a credible Democratic candidate for President in the 2008 election.
Dodd is a moderately progressive senator, so it will be interesting to see exactly what kind of Democrats he will call upon to build a coalition of support for a presidential campaign. Those who currently support Feingold and Gore are not likely to be swayed to join a Dodd for President campaign.
However, Senator Hillary Clinton’s presidential prospects are rapidly dwindling, and Senator Dodd may pick up some of the support that Clinton has lost.
For those who are interested in the idea of a Dodd for President campaign in 2008, we have added a Christopher Dodd for President campaign gear section to our Vote Democrat 2008 shop of bumper stickers, buttons and other items. Our catalog of pro-Dodd campaign items will be rapidly growing over the next few days, so check back soon.
