In Massachusetts, still waiting for Divine Retribution

Two years and one month ago, Massachusetts began granting legal marriage licenses to same-sex couples. In a response of dismay, Christian minister Stephen Bennett of the American Family Association wrote:

I was watching CNN as they were broadcasting live the “festivities and ceremonies of history in the making” in Cambridge, MA where “gay” marriage licenses were first issued.

To think it was only centuries ago where our great nation began when the pilgrims first landed in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Now, Massachusetts will be the place where it tragically all ends.

“D” Day is what many are calling it — “Destruction of Marriage Day.” Yet it’s so much more. America has arrogantly declared war against the God of all creation and I’m sure it will draw a quick and appropriate heavenly response.

And as for America, we better be prepared for the consequences of our actions. Our military forces may be the best in the world, but we have no idea just WHO we have declared war against.

Boy, talk about “arrogance”! Stephen Bennett is so sure that the legalization of gay marriage will “draw a quick and appropriate response”? Well, golly and grandmother’s pajamas, this here sure seems like a good test of faith. Two years and one month later, let’s check in:

Has the nation come to an end, as Bennett predicted? No.
Has any declaration of war against the United States of America been issued since May 2004? No.
Any hurricanes in Massachusetts? No.
Volcanoes? No.
Sinkholes? No.

The unemployment rate for Massachusetts is down compared to May 2004.

Right now in Boston, it’s 81 degrees and mostly cloudy. Not bad for the summer.

But, oh dear: the pollen forecast for the Boston area is “very high”!

Is that God’s Divine Retribution for gay marriage? Pollen?

Somehow I doubt it. But that’s just me of little faith.
