The National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences, highly esteemed for its rigorous review standards, has just released a report which concludes:
There is sufficient evidence from tree rings, boreholes, retreating glaciers, and other “proxies” of past surface temperatures to say with a high level of confidence that the last few decades of the 20th century were warmer than any comparable period in the last 400 years….
The NAS reports less confidence in global inferences regarding the years prior to 1600 not because the pattern prior to 1600 isn’t consistent with global warming, but because fewer data points for those earlier years exist. Notwithstanding this lesser confidence overall, the NAS reports that climate findings of global warming for the last thousand years are consistent in the Northern Hemisphere, for which more data has been collected. The solution to this problem, according to the NAS, is the collection of more proxy data — especially in the Southern Hemisphere, for which less data has been collected.
The above is a specific endorsement of the climate research of Michael Mann, whose work has been pilloried by right-wing groups funded by oil companies. But the NAS report goes beyond its endorsement of Michael Mann’s research to further conclude that “surface temperature reconstructions for the past 2,000 years are consistent with other evidence of global climate change and can be considered as additional supporting evidence.”
The report is 113 pages long, not counting references, and as someone who has some training in statistics but isn’t a climatologist, I’ve found it to be pretty darned comprehensible for a piece of scientific writing. The authors do a really helpful job in reviewing the theoretical logic and empirical results of tree ring studies, water and cave proxy methods, the use of isotopes and the importance of glaciers. You won’t be an expert after reading the NAS report, but you will be much better informed about the nuances of the science of global warming.

Ok, so it’s warmer than it’s been …. since ‘the little ice age’. Um, why isn’t this expected? Why is looking at 400 years of historical evidence (‘proxies’) conclusive evidence of anything? Isn’t this the same thing as me looking at a thermometer at 8:00:00.001 (that’s 8 am and .001 seconds), looking again at the thermometer and 8:00:00.005, seeing that the temperature has gone up .002 degress and extrapolating a century’s worth of temperature predictions?
I suggest you read the report, glitch, since you clearly haven’t, since it doesn’t say what you attribute to it.
According to testimony recently before Congress, small increases in greenhouse gas input are being replicated in the atmosphere 100 times and more. This mysterious multiplication is called, global warming leverage by Dr. Cererone, the head of the National Academy of science. Dr. Cererone indicated that such fact did make global warming leverage far more important that than greenhouse gas input, alone. However, the good Dr. also indicated that we did not know what was causing global warming leverage and seemed to indicate that there was no serious effort going on to find out.
Juxtapose this against the fact that a major university study finds little more plasma is being used in industry to obtain work in excess of laws-of-conservation limits, but–as we all know–hugely more work is being done. My god! Maybe dark energy associated with phases of phases of plasmas is going directly unto the dark environment lousing up the process where by the gasses of the atmosphere are replicated. In deed, maybe, NASA’s Chuck Bennett has pictures taken by camera’s aboard the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe showing dark energy released during these operations disturbing the dark matter environment.
Given that more work can be done with a phase of a phase of an extract rather than with an extract(such as neutron energy), it is hardly surprising that more dark energy might be freed when a phase of a phase is being used. And, more phases of phases are being used since otherwise hugely more work could not be done in excess of laws-of-conservation limits, today, than in the 1960′s.
Contrary to the notion that we cannot know what might be causing global warming leverage, there are test involving measuring G, the universal constant of gravity in the universal gravitational formula, near to and far from operations using plasma (particularly long-standing such operations) Also, methods of measure may be used involving and not involving plasmas.
So why wouldn’t NASA want to turn over whatever they had. And why wouldn’t the agencies charged with writing the two year report (part of a ten year study) include data about the utilization of the use of plasma as part of their report? Oil. Many persons are unaware that plasmas are being exploited to do work in excess of laws-of-conservation limits MUCH LESS THAT THESE ARE ALWAYS USED TO DO WORK, NEVER TO MAKE ELECTRICITY.

Be assured, Republicans and our security agencies are toying with our eminent extinction by refusing to concern themselves with the cause(s) of global warming leverage. Consider for example that our own scientist say that if Egypt’s nuclear bunker buster bomb test (associated with the 2004 tsunami) had had a 15% greater impact, we would have lost our atmosphere. Do you think maybe a U.S. live tested nuclear bunker buster just might confine the neutron portion of such a bomb by 15% more than Egypt’s? Theirs is reputed to go 200 feet down. Ours are believed to be capable of going 600 in less time.
