A few days ago, I noted that according to Cal Thomas, citizens voting in elections for their candidate of choice are “Taliban Democrats.” Because, you know, voting is a terrorist act and all. Especially voting for someone who isn’t Joe Lieberman! That’s one of the new slogans coming out, I hear: “Vote for Lieberman, Or Join the Taliban!”
But thankfully, FOX News has come along to chastise Cal Thomas and correct him on his egregious error. No, no, the democratic outcome of a primary election in Connecticut isn’t like the rise of the Taliban. Not at all! You see, explains FOX talking head John Gibson, the primary election results more resemble the murderous rampages of the Khmer Rouge:
The Khmer Rouge wing of the Democratic Party is making a bid for a complete takeover….
Hang on, Dems. Here come the Pol Pots of your party. And if you were for national security, you are now emphatically not. Or else.
That’s right: Pol Pot. People who voted for Ned Lamont are equivalent to Pol Pot. Pol Pot, who killed perhaps two million people in his genocidal campaigns in Cambodia. Pol Pot, whose thugs turned high schools into torture chambers, who had little girls photographed for posterity before they were tortured, murdered, and tossed like leftover chicken wings onto massive human scrap heaps. Pol Pot. Voting for Ned Lamont is like being Pol Pot.
You know, for some kind of effect I was going to put up one of those pictures of the mounds of countless skulls of the victims of the Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot, and then ask which one of them was Joe Lieberman’s skull, and ask whether Lieberman was raped as well as starved, whether that was before or after he was tortured, and if he died from a gunshot wound or just starvation. You know, as a way of pointing out to John Gibson and people like him just how fanatically cruel the Khmer Rouge were and therefore just how inappropriate an analogy between genocide and a democratic election must be.
But then I read the last lines of Gibson’s FOX-official screed and realized there’d be no point to that. Gibson and FOX News show they know very well what the Khmer Rouge was capable of. And as he sums up, John Gibson displays the extent of his willingness to use fear and demagoguery when backed into a political corner:
Remember the mountain of skulls in Cambodia? It’s the Democrats’ new reality now that the anti-war rabble has tasted blood by taking Lieberman down.
