Working Families for Wal-Mart says that it is “saddened by the resignation of Ambassador Andrew Young as chairman of our national steering committee”, but why ever did Andrew Young resign?
Well, it seems that Mr. Young was inspired by the example of Mel Gibson’s truth telling about some supposed Jewish conspiracy to spread evil around the world. Mr. Young’s conspiracy theory was more broad and at the same time more banal than Gibson’s theory. Whereas Mel Gibson said that Jews were responsible for all the wars in the world, Andrew Young said that Jews, Koreans and Arabs are responsible for all the stale bread, bad meat and wilted vegetables in the world.
Andrew Young said,
“Those are the people who have been overcharging us … selling us stale bread and bad meat and wilted vegetables. And they sold out and moved to Florida. I think they’ve ripped off our communities enough. First it was Jews, then it was Koreans and now it’s Arabs.â€
Mr. Young was explaining why people ought to be grateful that Wal-Mart has replaced locally-owned small businesses with its immense, corrugated metal stores, with profits that are sent back to Bentonville, Arkansas. It was his duty, as the leader of Working Families for Wal-Mart, to make such claims. Of course, Young would make any kind of claim when it came to defending Wal-Mart against its critics. The second, unofficial name for Working Families for Wal-Mart is Public Relations Gimmick for Wal-Mart. Let’s just say that WFFWM is hardly a grassroots organization.
So, Wal-Mart is to be credited for stopping a nationwide conspiracy by Jews, Koreans and Arabs to sell people wilted lettuce, huh? What’s next? Will another right winger uncover a secret Hispanic conspiracy to make light bulbs go out prematurely?
Well, like Andrew Young said, the Jews, Koreans and Arabs have ripped off our communities for long enough! Now it’s Wal-Mart’s turn!
That is what he meant, right?
yeah here are some other facts that Mr Young might not be as happy to expouse:
1) blacks are more likely to committ crime
2) have children they can’t afford beliving taxpapers should foot the bill
3) belive in governement dependancy
4) name their kids stupid faux-african names like “lamisha”
5)use anger to intimidate people
why shouldn’t people openly talk about it without being labelled racist? In my neighborhood there have been 2 murders recently where the murderers have been young black men and the victims elderly Asian women. hmmm. yet if they associate blacks with crime/violence the AA community whines. how unfair. black “civil rights leaders” are the new KKK

1) I think blacks more likely to be arrested, mybe violent crime or drug crime, depends on opportunity, whites probably more into white collar crime. here they are trying special legislation to erase rap sheets because the blacks can’t get jobs with record. the black women say all the decent guys are in jail.
2)when i was working in public aid office, black woman came in and said, they told me i couldn’t get aid unless i was pregnant, i’m pregnant now so where’s my money?
3)the african american employees were very turned off by this statement and although she probably technically qualified for aid, they made sure she was didn’t get it, so there is one set who says “i’m entitled, where’s my money and another susbset of blacks who say, not an entitlement, self-sufficiency is important. i see more of the entitlement attitude.
4)those names drive me nuts. They’re not spelled consistantly as the parents can’t spell,you can’t pronounce them by looking at them, and they aren’t african. Oh well. I’m happpy for my own ordainary pronouncable name.
5)the anger/intimidation thing isn’t around like it was before 9/11. really, race relations have shifted subtly–like there’s a new Enemy.

If white commits crime against balck, it’s called hate crime and it’s all over the news.
If black commits crime against white, it gets hushed up in a hurry. gosh, it’s rascist to talk about blacks committing crime, don’t you know. different expectations based on race. i don’t think this is a favor to blacks, but I’m not black so maybe i can’t make a fair judgment.
but we do need a common language for talking about these urban probelms without giving offense. whites do want to express their need for safety witout being labeled ‘white supremeiscist’.
