What Counts As Smart TV? Strippers with Supernatural Powers

On the front page of the USA Today Weekend Life section this morning, I saw the headline, TV smartens up for fall season – Viewers to get something to thing about thanks to brainy hits. My interest was piqued.

What would there be this year? More documentaries? Science programming? Poetry?

No. I was piqued and then slammed. What was the first caption I saw under the headline? “Single Mother and Internet stripper Miki Sanders begins seeing strange things in the mirror that hint at an extraordinary ability.”

This is what passes for intelligence on television these days? Strippers with supernatural powers? Well, I guess that’s smart – for TV.
