Although I write with due alarm at the danger of partisan Democrats who would betray America’s commitment to liberty in order to secure their re-election, it is important to note that only a minority of House Democrats voted for H.R. 6166 and only a minority of Senate Democrats voted for S. 3930. A majority of Democrats in the House and Senate (which due to solid Republican anti-Constitution sentiment did not make a voting majority) voted to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, and through it to support and defend American liberty.
Capitol Hill is abuzz at the impolitic inappropriateness of Republican Speaker Dennis Hastert’s comment yesterday that “It should come as no surprise that the Democrats in the House put their liberal agenda ahead of the security of America.”
Pardon me. Is that meant to be an insult?
The Democrats took an oath of office to put the liberal agenda ahead of the security of America when they swore to support and protect the thoroughly liberal Constitution of the United States of America. The Republicans as well as the Democrats swore that oath. The Republicans, and a minority of Democrats, broke their oath when they supported H.R. 6166 / S. 3930. Neither the Republicans nor the Democrats swore an oath of office to support and defend the security of America. That’s not their primary job.
The framers knew this. They said it outright. As Benjamin Franklin put it, “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”
It should come as no surprise that the Republicans put their Homeland Security politics ahead of America’s liberty.
What I, personally, find disturbing is the continuous usage of the word/phrase “Homeland”/”Homeland Security”. The Germans called it”Das Vaterland”. All these phrases set off alarm bells in my head. NewSpeak is the precursor of a totalitarian regime. Let’s lose these bastards before they take into their heads that “elections are no longer necessary”. Their latest travesty has shown their contempt for the Constitution. To these power-hungry pigs, it is merely a “scrap of paper”.
