Daniel Ortega won the recent presidential election in Nicaragua. You’ll remember him as the Communist dictator of Nicaragua during the 1980s, the foil of international capitalism who Ronald Reagan said could march into Washington D.C. in just five days.
Well, now Daniel Ortega is to be the democratically-elected President of Nicaragua, and he’s not the same old Che Guevara sort that we knew before. His running mate is a former pro-American Contra rebel. Ortega now advocates free market reforms. And then there’s his Catholicism.
Oliver North was back down in Nicaragua before this year’s elections, warning anyone who would listen (not very many) that doom and hellfire would descend upon Nicaragua if Ortega was elected President. US government officials joined with him to suggest that the USA might push for sanctions against an Ortega government.
Now that I’m reading some more about who Daniel Ortega has become, I’m wondering if Oliver North and his right wing buddies were just playing the role of Brer Rabbit, intentionally supporting Ortega’s hand by offering their conspicuous condemnation.
If right wing Americans were to sit down with Daniel Ortega, I think they would find themselves quite fond of the person he has become. As the BBC describes it, Daniel Ortega is now a strident Pro Life Catholic activist who supports laws outlawing abortion in Nicaragua.
So, please, please, please, beg the right wingers… don’t throw Nicaragua into the hands of that free market, anti-abortion, religious leader Daniel Ortega! He’ll take Nicaragua right into the briar patch, if we don’t watch out.
Daniel Ortega was an evil, vicious man. I seriously doubt he has changed. Have YOU sat down with him? No. All you have done is read what the liberal media wants to report and to change/control your thinking.
I would do some RESEARCH instead of just reading what the Mainstream Libtard Media publishes.
