Use your imagination to picture Elizabeth Kucinich as First Lady, and you will have one of the most entertaining experiences possible in the entire 2008 presidential election season. Use your imagination now, and not just your eyes. Yes, Dennis Kucinich has the most stunningly beautiful mate of any presidential candidate, but there’s more to her than just that.
Elizabeth Kucinich is someone who dares to be a different kind of political wife. She doesn’t follow the conventional model of the prospective First Lady. She expresses herself in a fresh and honest way, and with a radically different cultural perspective.
Consider how she writes about what she believes to be the spiritual context 5th anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001:
“It is said in physics that every action causes a reaction. Similar too is the concept of Karma. These can be understood to be the material and spiritual laws of balance. When they are translated into our day to day life experiences, every action indeed causes a reaction, a karmic narrative. To awaken vision and to touch balance in Justice’s scales, we must introduce sincere reflection between the phases of action and reaction.
This year marks the fifth anniversary of 9/11, a series of events that marked a day of awakening for the people of the world to the revelation of the very real and powerful forces at play in these times. Not falling prey to the black hole of 9/11 rhetoric which highlights the evil of otherness, rhetoric into which our lives have been sacrificed, together with our freedom and liberty. No, I am speaking of the forces at play within the depths of each of our hearts and the dark side of our souls traveling the shamanic journey into the underworld and the opportunity for our transformation into beings of light. “
Accompanying the blog entry is a picture of Mrs. Kucinich, looking at wildflowers, standing next to one of the Let Peace Prevail on Earth posts that rests outside of my son’s Montessori school and also can be found outside of the Moosewood Restaurant in Ithaca. Far out.
What Elizabeth Kucinich writes is not the kind of rant we’d often hear about how the Christian God wants America to prevail, and will smite down evildoers. I’m not a believer in karma, and I’m not sure if the American public has really been going on a shamanic journey into the underworld, but I appreciate someone who is willing to deviate from the standard recipe for mixing politics and religion. As for myself, I don’t think that religious commentaries are helpful for dealing with secular issues, because religion divides Americans rather than uniting us in a common vision. However, if a political figure is going to get religious, it’s certainly much more interesting when they do it from a perspective that is outside the cultural mainstream. I’m looking forward to seeing how the Religious Right reacts to Elizabeth Kucinich, showing us what they really think about freedom of religion.
Lest you think that I’m getting too personal about Elizabeth Kucinich, let me note that this piece of writing is on a blog written by Elizabeth Kucinich that is part of the Kucinich for President in 2008 web site. What Elizabeth Kucinich has written about karma and shamanic journeys is part of the Kucinich presidential campaign. That’s a pretty brave move for Dennis Kucinich to make, demonstrating a good deal of confidence in his wife, and in the usefulness of being honest about who he is. Say what you like about the chances of the Kucinich for President campaign, but you can’t say that it isn’t earnest.
Above all else, the Kucinich for President campaign should be imaginative and interesting. That alone makes it worth watching.
Dennis rocks, always has since his 2004 run — and i believe with his incredibly powerful new wife, he’s gonna have some *major* hitting power this time around. Go Dennis — you got all my money and energy, right up through the primary!!!!!!! :->
A grandpa with a maiden bride is about as progressive as pig’s feet. She can pose with daisies all she wants but Elizabeth is not fooling anyone. She parlayed her looks to hook up with a power player. how borrrrringggg. And also (unfortunately, since I like Kucinich’s politics) a LOSER.
MUWHAHAHAHAHHAHA, kucinich is a creepy little socialist shrimp!! He’s a loser, and she is a gold digging loser!
The comments by Phil and Naturalhigh are so typical
of the “keep the women in the kitchen and preggers”
lames.
The lady looks and sounds as if she is worth listening
to and she is certainly worth looking at. I’m impressed.
#3 – losers don’t score wives like that… you’re way off base…
as for imagining Elizabeth, I like to imagine her as my first lady…
Well petey being a progressive you are already a loser so…
Phil, got any real input? You got a wife like that? You got a wife at all? I know how, with your face and mouth, only prostitues would have sex with you, but…maybe there is someone as ugly as you out there.
I guess the big bad Phillis lacks a Phallus.
BTW, I do like how she takes a different perspective on things, unlike some other politicians.
I like Kucinich’s politics. But sorry, this just seems too wierd A two week courtship between May and September? That’s just pretty desperate of Congressman September. This pairing has that Tom-Kat smell to it, or Michael Jackson/Lisa Marie… a convenient paring before an election. Now I’ll feel a little more confident about K’s manhood if his number shows up in the Washington Madam’s phone logs (calls placed well before the wedding bells, of course).
denny kucinich is a socialist creep! He’s as fucking weird as the howard scream from vermont!!!!!
That cunt on his arm, is there, because of money, no other reason! Watch her dump the little shrimp when the bucks dry up!
Another Anna Nicole, only with out the class!! And that’s saying something!!!
“more confident about K’s manhood if his number shows up in the Washington Madam’s phone logs”
Eeeewww. If he has to pay for it, he really doesn’t have any manhood, does he. You will notice that when a Democrat is involved in a sex scandal, it’s always consensual sex; when the Republicans are involved in a sex scandal, they had to pay for it.
Elizabeth Kucinich has gone volunteered in India for Mother Teresa, lived in a concrete house with a tin roof in Tanzania, and worked with refugees through the Red Cross. Those are not the actions of someone who is motivated by money. Denis Kucinich isn’t too bad looking either, although I hear he is crabby. He could probably figure out how to suppress his difficult personality long enough to get her name on the dotted line.
Elizabeth & Dennis KUCINICH: They make a lovely fascinating intelligent couple. And they are incredibly HONEST which scares the hell out of most GOP. One thing, neither of them is slightly motivated by pure greed, which is the Life Force of the Republican hierarchy. Therefore the Kucinich family is virtually unbribe-able, which creates a form of “hysteria” among Repubs in Congress. (What? A person who can’t be bought?)
