There But for the Grace of Bush Go I

“Fact: The Terrorists have not attacked America since 9/11.”

Cato the Elder uses this one not-entirely accurate statement (who can forget the flowerpot bomb media frenzy?) to then assert that the lack of terrorist attacks are a vindication of Bush administration policies.

Of course, if there had been terrorist attacks on American soil since September 11, 2001 (besides that flowerpot explosion, I mean) then Cato and his pals would be telling us that it was a sign that now, more than ever, we needed to support Bush administration policies to battle this clear and present danger blah blah blah. No matter what happens, whatever happens is a sign to these people that you’ve just got to support George W. Bush.

If Cato really wants to apply the notion that one should support the system under which terrorist attacks don’t occur, he should consider how many years without terrorist attacks occurred before September 11, 2001, before all this authoritarian nonsense came to pass.

Unless you want to consider the idea that there were no terrorists and that the attacks were actually carried out by a conspiracy that wants to destroy the American government and replace it with a North American Union complete with its own currency.

Now, I wouldn’t particularly miss Dubya, but I sure would miss the Almighty Dollar.

Oh, that sounds like the paranoid John Cox Republican consiracy theory that internatonal bureaucrats are going to steal away American sovereignty. John Cox and his imaginary friend Skippy, that voice in his head.

The Italians haven’t invaded the UK since the Roman Empire days, right? This proves that every single form of government since then has been stopping Italy attacking.

    Right?
