How Can Biden Not Be The Best Biden He Can Be?

Talking up his campaign for President in 2008, Senator Joseph Biden declared today, “I’ll be Joe Biden and I’ll try to be the best Biden I can be. If I can, I have a shot. If I can’t, I lose.”

So, let me get this straight: Biden is saying that if he cannot be the best Biden he can be, he will lose the 2008 presidential campaign, so he’ll try to be the best Biden he can be. How, though, could Biden be anything other than the best Biden he can be? I mean, if Biden turns out to be a bad Biden, then that’s still the best Biden he could be, right? He just would turn out to be a lousy Biden, that’s all.

Joseph Biden is, after all, the only one of his kind. There is no other Biden running for President that we can compare him to. So, Biden promising that he’s going to be the best Biden he can be is about as meaningful as the declaration that the planet Mars is the best planet Mars it can be. All Mars has to do is sit there and do nothing, and it’s the best Mars that it can be.

It’s a shame that Joe Biden has made this pledge of his to be Joe Biden. I think that the 2008 presidential campaign would be much more interesting if Biden would try to be the best Ella Fitzgerald that he can be. Wouldn’t you like to see that on the campaign trail for a week or two?

Personally, I’d like to see Joe Biden be the best Spongebob Squarepants he can be. That would be really interesting. It would also get the American Family Association involved, which is always good fun.
