When I first read the right wing news outlet Fox News headline, “Cheney: US Will Work With Allies to Prevent Iranian Adventurism”, I sighed with relief, thinking that the Bush White House had seen reason, and would now be working to prevent a war against Iran. Sadly, I was mistaken. The headline referred to the decision by Vice President Dick Cheney and President George W. Bush to escalate hostilities with Iran, increasing the risks of going to war.
Unlike their pro-war opponents, progressives realize that Iranian adventurism needs to be prevented in Washington D.C. as well as in Tehran. That’s another good reason we need to elect a progressive President in 2008.
