Ohio Republicans Send me a Card, I Quiver

Today I received a fundraising appeal in the mail from the Ohio Republican Party, which is part of my negative donation strategy. Last summer I gave the group five dollars with the hope that they would spend more than five dollars on me in subsequent solicitations. I’ve never lied to them; I’ve just sent in my money and waited for the inevitable wasting effect. Cackle, cackle.
It’s working out so far: these letters come fairly often in the mail from various Republican and Republican-related groups, pretty much each of them with some little geegaw that is supposed to be motivational. This time, I got a nice membership card that reads “Ohio Republican Party 2007″ and informs all people to whom I will show this card (why?) that I am “a Sustaining Member in good standing for 2007.” It might just come in handy in a game of table hockey, I guess, but does such a thing actually motivate anyone to give more money?
Sigh. Well, it probably does. But at least I know that in one instance, there’s a little itsy bitsy countereffect.

You should include some pictures of the stuff they send you- along with a running total of the estimated cost.
