Running Mates by Ear

Today I’ve been reviewing the actions of the new House of Representatives, and I’ve come across the name of a new member of Congress: David Loebsack, Democrat of Iowa. That made me think of the former governor of Iowa, Tom Vilsack. Nine years down the line, wouldn’t a Vilsack-Loebsack presidential ticket be a kick? I’m not talking about policy matters, just the sound of the ticket to the ear. Would you refer to their tenure as the Sackies, or the VilLoe administration? When news got bad, the newspaper people would talk about Weeping VilLoes. The Capitol Steps would get hopelessly cheesy mileage out of it (Oh, the Vilsack’s connected to the Loebsack, the Loebsack’s connected to the kick-back, the kick-back’s connected to the Iraq, oh them’s the workings of the laaaaaw….)

What other political names would make for great presidential tickets, if in name only?
