 | Jeff Bingaman Stands Up To Military Commissions Act |
United States Senator Jeff Bingaman has done the right thing. He has decided to stand by the Constitution as is his sword duty as a member of Congress. Senator Bingaman has decided to endorse S. 576, the Restoring the Constitution Act of 2007. Senator Bingaman has joined those senators who stand against the Military Commissions Act.
That makes 11 senators who have co-sponsored the Restoring the Constitution Act. Know who hasn’t? Barack Obama has not. Hillary Clinton has not. Joseph Biden has not.
Christopher Dodd is the only senator running for President in 2008 who has sponsored a bill to comprehensively undo the totalitarian power granted to the President by the Military Commissions Act.
Thanks to Senator Bingaman for adding his name to the list on the right side of the issue. Shame on Obama, Clinton, Biden, and all the other Democrats in the Senate who have failed to do so.
