When it comes to dealing with possible deadly flu viruses in the future, the Centers for Disease Control has specific advice: Use a face-mask to cover your nose and mouth for the purpose avoiding infection, but remember that there’s no evidence that the masks will do any good.
Dr. Michael Bell, an infection control expert with the CDC says of the masks, “We don’t want people wearing them willy-nilly.”
Apparently, there have been problems in past epidemic with the willy-nilly use of face masks. Using a face mask is one thing, you see, but willy-nilly use is bad for public health.
