Arkansas Democrats in House One Hundred Percent ProWar

Yesterday, I started the process of reporting out the votes of Democrats in Congress who voted last week to give George W. Bush support for the Iraq War with no strings attached. Half of the Arkansas and Arizona Democrats in the House of Representatives supported the war, and half opposed it.

There was no such mixed reaction among the Arkansas Democrats. The Arkansas Democrats in the House all voted to prolong the Iraq War. For those of you who don’t know Arkansas, the pro-war Democratic votes came from Marion Berry, Mike Ross, and Vic Snyder.

The Arkansas Democrats gave a thoroughly rotten performance on this vote. I’d hope that their failure to oppose the Iraq War would lead to primary challenges in 2008, but their consistent support for George W. Bush’s mess in Iraq causes me to worry that there is a more systematic problem with the Arkansas Democrats. Perhaps it would be better for our country if Arkansas Democrats just went over to the Republican Party, where they seem more ideologically at home, and wouldn’t give Democrats elsewhere a bad name.

Hm. Hillary Clinton rose to power through the Arkansas Democrats. That ought to give her supporters some pause.
