Anti-Choice Fundamentalists Wage Really Boring and Pointless War

The anti-choice movement called Operation Rescue has added on to its name. Now it’s called Operation Rescue / Operation Save America. Save America? Is that, like, a command for us to pinch pennies? Will the movement help clip coupons for the least among us? No, no. This fundamentalist Christian organization says it is on an operation to Save America from the forces aligned against God. Reverend Flip Benham, Director of Operation Rescue/Operation Save America, explains in his statement honoring Roy Moore:

Judge Roy Moore stood. He gave what he could. Thousands joined him. The eyes of the entire nation were upon Alabama. Jesus was honored. It was a glorious, yet very sobering time. Many of us realized for the very first time that our nation and its courts were at war against Almighty God.

The nation and its courts are at war against Almighty God? Oh, dear. Benham shares this news as a reason for OR/OSA to start blocking Planned Parenthood clinics again. But what a boring war, and kind of pointless too, if you think about it: I mean, Jeez, on one side is a nation, OK, and its courts. Woo hoo. On the other side: Almighty God. Who’s going to win that contest? “Almighty” means something, you know. If God is really Almighty, he will in his Infinite Wisdom beat the pants off the heathen USA and its heathen courts with his Super Powers — unless God wants the heathens to win, that is. If the people of OR/OSA really think that God is Almighty, they’ve got nothing to worry about, and the whole thing is kind of pointless. I mean, infinity is still infinity, plus a couple of hundred people outside a Planned Parenthood clinic or minus a couple of hundred people outside a Planned Parenthood clinic.

Or is the deal that the Reverend Flip Benham and OR/OSA don’t really think this “God” fella is Almighty after all?
