I’m having fun reading through Harry Polarity, the fundamentalist Christian comic book put out by “Truth For Youth.” Harry Polarity is aimed at getting those hep cat kids of today tuned into the message that gee, though everyone says Harry Potter books are just fiction, that’s just part of a deceptive conspiracy of “demonic forces.” My favorite part so far is when the parents of a young kid tell him not to read the books because, see,
you don’t want to get involved in it like your mom and I were once! A Demon was exorcised from us that was big and blackish-green and scaly, had a skull-like face, large teeth, and things like antlers coming out of his head!
Later pages warn kids that, behind stores selling Harry Potter merchandise, there are secret doors leading to rooms where ritual sacrifices are carried out! Ooooh!
Christian fundamentalist youth re-educator Tim Todd has been peddling a story of the remarkable transformation this Harry Polarity comic book can induce in Potter-infected youth. Any kid who is won over by this ham-fisted, unintentionally funny comic book probably needs to be tested for drugs.
Maybe it’ll be a collector’s item some day…like Reefer Madness.
