Republicans Cut Funding for CPSC Safety Inspections
posted 2nd September 2007 in 2008 Reasons, Economy, George W. Bush, Politics by Jim
While more and more dangerous toys ripping apart kids’ innards and exposing them to lead paint have been flooding the nation’s toyshelves, the Republican administration of George W. Bush cut the staffing levels of the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The Commission once had more than 900 employees. Now, under President Bush, staffing is at less than half that level.
Government spending is higher than ever under the Bush administration. It’s just that the money is being spent in different ways, getting funneled to defense contractors and mercenaries in a useless war instead of being used to actually keep our nation’s children safe.

To coin an old favorite of the conservative republicans: “What about the children?!”
Look, this kind of behavior (and much worse) has been going on for 7 years now – with nobody DOING anything about it, including the Democratic-majority led Congress and the roll-over-and-play-dead (ok, Sit, Stay!) Justice Department. We’re being taken to the cleaners by a crime family member and we sit and bitch about it. What a limp country. Our forefathers would have taken back Washington by now. BAAAAH! i gotta go watch tv.
Oh, they’re just our nation’s future. We’re keeping them safe from a hypothetical threat, while exposing them to real ones!!!! We’re evil!!!! Yayyy!!!
