Mike Huckabee Wants to Track People Like FedEx Shipments

If Republican candidate Mike Huckabee is elected president, how will he treat the citizens beneath him? Ask Huckabee himself, who revealed his proclivities in last night’s Republican Party debate:

The reality is that we track packages from UPS and FedEx every time we order from amazon.com, and yet we’ve got a government that says we don’t know what to do and how to keep up with people. If necessary, we ought to outsource this whole issue to FedEx and UPS. They seem to have a better way of keeping up with packages than our government does with people.

Do you have your barcode yet?

Ron Paul vs. Dennis Kucinich is the only way … the only way America can come out of the haze!

  2. Crumpet says:

There no “only way”. The “only way” stuff is from the movies and bad books.

  3. jdr says:

Clearly, this was a joke. He was simply illustrating the idiocy of big government.

  4. Plarry says:

Not so clear a joke, JDR. Mike Huckabee was illustrating his own idiocy.

I don’t think Huckabee was thinking of a literal barcode. Packages are not adversarial. This would have to be an RFID transponder that can’t be taken off. Or a surgically implanted chip like in the forthcoming movie Nightmare City 2035 (director: Winkless). The infrastructure to make this work would have to be great, much greater than a wall. If Huckabee adds text messaging then everybody will want a visa to the US. I am not sure that a 23% fair tax will pay for this, so we will have to continue a large deficit.

I don’t think this is a good idea.
