Mercenaries Are Not Folks For Most Americans

When referring to the armed mercenaries working for Blackwater, George W. Bush calls them “folks”. That statement sums up the difference between right wingers like Bush and the rest of America. For most of America, mercenaries are dangerous people who demonstrate their rejection of decent moral values by offering their services as hired guns, not “folks”.

If you agree with George W. Bush that mercenaries are just ordinary “folks”, then maybe you need to vote for a right wing candidate for President. Otherwise, cast your vote to elect a progressive President in 2008.

One Response to Mercenaries Are Not Folks For Most Americans

  1. Iroquois says:

Bush states in the link that the private embassy guards are under “rules of engagement”. In an NPR piece however, an Iraqi states they are not under rules like the other armed services, so that when they are on the street, merchants try to get civilians off the street right away as the Blackwater security has a reputation for being trigger happy…and now apparently they have a reputation for not being under any rules either.(Just like the independent militias.)
