Irregular Times: News Unfit to Print Logo

It is a time of fear in the face of freedom, a time of barricaded roads and new paths. Maps fade and direction is lost as we glance sideways at the strange lands through which we pass, knowing for certain only that our destination has disappeared. We are unready to meet these times but we proceed nonetheless, adapting as we wander, reshaping the Earth with every tread. Gone are the old times, the standard times, the high times. Welcome to the irregular times.

Eric Eidsness or Betsy Markey for Congress
posted 1st October 2007 in Democrats, Politics, State and Local by jclifford

When I saw the news this morning that Angie Paccione would not be running for Congress in 2008, I was disappointed. I appreciated Paccione’s solid progressive approach in 2006 when she took on shrill right winger Marilyn Musgrave. Paccione came very close to victory, and I was looking forward to a rematch.

Check out Marilyn Musgrave’s legislative profile and you’ll see why it’s so important to get her out of office. She’s an extremist Republican, with a 83 percent right wing rating and only a 15 percent progressive rating.

Sadly, Angie Paccione has indicated that she is dropping out of the race. That leaves two candidates, and I can’t really choose between the two of them. I was initially skeptical about Eric Eidsness, seeing that he had run with the Reform Party. Reform Party candidates tend to lean toward the right. However, looking at Eidsness’s platform, he looks like a solid Democrat now. So does Betsy Markey, who looks like the party insider candidate for 2008.

Whichever one of them wins, it will be a relief for the people of Colorado’s 4th congressional district, who have been suffering the embarrassment of Musgrave for far too long.
