and “Germany lives”
Right. Very much in keeping with the tone of the other posters — I guess I assumed people were familiar with those phrases, and I shouldn’t make that assumption.

Also, the US is such a huge country that expecting them to all learn such an eratic language is a very high request…
Personally I’d just encourage more accessable lessons and books on basic phrases. I like seeing multiculture variety, but I can understand that sometimes it seems to only slip between extremes (groups completely retaining their old language or moving over completely).
I’m starting to think that the people who do that kind of thing don’t really mind being compared to Hitler. And that is actually pretty scary to me.

This is well thought out! The way you lump a bunch of disparate conservative elements together and then compare them to Nazis. Perhaps better thought out opposition to each of these specific positions would be more in keeping with your American heritage? After all, it was the Nazis who scapegoated the Jews, and you certainly wouldn’t want to be accused of scapegoating conservatives, would you Herr Jim?
