Crude Bets On 90 Dollar Oil

peregrin wood smiling pictureThree dollars and eighty seven cents to go until crude oil hits 90 dollars per barrel.

The Independent writes that a continuing escalation of oil prices above 90 dollars per barrel is “seen as likely” in the near future.

Anyone want to place any friendly bets (no money at stake) as to how long before it will happen?

The scary part is the fact that our currency keeps dropping as a result of the Fed bailing out the sub-prime mortgage people. This will make significant inflation almost a certainty in the near future (before the next election). With the Bush War debt looming down the road, can anyone else see the U.S. as bankrupt before long? So much for government by the rich.

    June 2008.

  3. F.G. Fitzer says:

June 2008 nothing, Jim. I bet that the price reaches 90 per barrel by the end of this week.

Tom’s right. This, plus the diving dollar, really could literally bankrupt the United States.

  4. Oil traded at 87.97 – just $2.03 to go!

i dunno about this week… but before the end of october (2007).

by june 2008 we’ll see it over $100 — i’d say it’ll hit the $100 mark by the end of feb 2008.

  7. Dunno about this week? The price reached $88.20 today.

That’s just $1.80 per barrel to go, and the price is fluctuating almost that much on any given day.

  8. And today, oil hit 89.00 per barrel, on the dot. One dollar to go!

  9. Vynce says:

sure, but temporary highs and lows could still mean hitting $88.20 over a week before hitting $90.

i didn’t say it *wouldn’t* happen this week. just that i wasn’t sure it would.

  10. Vynce says:

& if you think the $90 mark is so boring (as i do, kinda) when do you think it’ll hit $100?

i’m amazed, btw. i expected to pay $4/gal for gas before the end of the summer, and i didn’t. I might not all year. So when will that happen?
