Protest Against Schumer’s Betrayal Tomorrow Evening!
Charles Schumer betrayed the Democratic voters of New York State when he declared he would support Michael Mukasey for Attorney General of the United States. Mukasey, in the strongest possible contradiction of core Democratic values, has refused to acknowledge what top legal and military experts agree upon: Waterboarding is a form of torture, an unconstitutional cruel and unusual punishment, and is in violation of the laws of the United States of America.
Senator Schumer assumed that Democratic voters in New York State wouldn’t dare question him and his decision. He took their support for granted. No more.
Rank and file New York State Democratic voters have risen up in a backlash against the arrogance of Charles Schumer, and tomorrow, they will take their protests to Chuck Schumer’s home. At 6:00 PM tomorrow evening, there will be a protest outside Senator Schumer’s official residence:
9 Prospect Park West (corner of President Street in Park Slope) in Brooklyn, NY
The protest, which focuses on Senator Schumer’s support for torture and the Michael Mukasey nomination, was organized by a coalition of progressive and Democratic organizations, including Brooklyn For Peace and the New York Progressive Democrats of America.
For more information, call Brooklyn For Peace at (718) 624-5921. While you’re at it, call Senator Schumer’s office through the congressional switchboard at (800) 828-0498, and tell Schumer’s staff what you think of Schumer’s spineless acceptance of torture and Michael Mukasey.

So much for the savior Democrats - they’re just as short-sighted and complicit as the Republinazis. If it isn’t Schumer and Feinstein, it’s others who break ranks to “join with the dark side.” Meanwhile the Republicans keep their people in line (somehow) and Bush continues to wreak havoc on the country and the world. Thanks, Congress, for not aligning with the people who put you in office!
