Dump on the Flag, or Dump on the Country?
I was just sitting down with my friend Jeff a little while ago when he brought up the issue of Barack Obama, who some people are giving holy heck because he doesn’t wear a flag lapel pin, even though Obama said he’d rather people pay attention to his acts as a barometer of “true patriotism.” “You know,” I said to Jeff, “I wouldn’t mind having a president who took a shit on the flag first thing every morning and spent the rest of the day looking after our country.” Retorted Jeff, “Yeah, that’s better than having a president who takes a shit on the country every morning and spends the rest of the day looking after the flag.” Right you are, Jeff.
