“Picachu” writes in to us in defense of Minnesota Republican Michelle Bachmann:

Bachmann is great You people ought to just get off your extremist left-wing agenda, grow-up, get a job, and start contributing something to this country other than your tearing down everything that is good!

A Pokemon pseudonym is an interesting choice for someone who wants us to “grow-up.” “Picachu,” you apparently haven’t been around long enough to meet the people with a real “extremist left-wing” agenda. Go check out Workers World or International ANSWER to find some actual left-wingers who are much more extreme than we are. These groups are primarily interested in what they call “justice” for the oppressed, which consists primarily of income redistribution, in pursuit of which they have repeatedly been willing to look past the human rights abuses and anti-democratic records of the socialist regimes of the old Soviet bloc, Cuba and Venezuela, and have been willing to support the violent actions of groups they agree with.

As for Michele Bachmann, a member of Congress who has voted FOR bills that increase the power of surveillance without warrants, increases official government intolerance of diversity in its proceedings, permits religious discrimination using taxpayer funds? The same Representative Bachmann who OPPOSED legislation to strengthen nuclear non-proliferation, to increase the minimum wage, to enact environmental standards for oceangoing ships, to establish paper trails for voting machines, to stop U.S. aid to foreign armies that conscript child soldiers, to stop the use of kid-killing cluster bombs, and to restore the Freedom of Information Act? Well, if you want to refer to that record as “great,” you’re entitled to your opinion. But I’m entitled to mine. And people like you are why people like me turn out to vote on election day. Someone’s got to cancel you out.
