Bad CARMA from Red States

If you want to get a good graphic picture of the geographic distribution of carbon emissions, visit CARMA – Carbon Monitoring for Action. The web site provides information on the dirtiest power plants, in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, around the world.

Take a look at the site’s list of the top five highest sources of carbon dioxide emissions in the United States, and one thing stands out right away. All of the top five dirtiest power plants in the United States on CARMA’s list are in red states – states that voted to re-elect George W. Bush in 2004.

Clearly, the Republican perspective is not the most credible in terms of confronting the role of carbon dioxide pollution in climate change.
