When old landmarks crumble, established roads no longer lead the way. New paths open to those with an irregular eye. Our news is unfit for print.

1)When the weather turns from the sound of lawnmowers on the weekend to the sound of scraping shovels on the weekend, and then suddenly you hear the sound of a small engine. Who can afford a snowblower in this neighborhood? It's those neighbors across the street with the landscaping trailer on the back of the pickup. And judging by the sound of the language they are speaking on their cellphones, they aren't part of the "press one for English" crowd. Hey! Who in this neighborhood can afford cellphones? Not the people who TEACH English, that's for sure.

2)People who shovel just one little section of snow around their car and then put a chair in the street to save their place. I found one chair like that a few houses down and shoveled an area around it the size of a football field. Several more people with shovels started doing the same thing up and down the street, so now there is parking for everyone. I hope that chair freezes to the street.
