![]() | The Warning of Mary Landrieu To Democrats in 2008 |
A serious warning to Democratic voters about the 2008 comes to us today, but from the looks of the scant coverage of the story in the mainstream media and blogosphere alike, it’s likely to be a warning that is not heeded.
The warning comes in the form of allegations of the bribery of a Democratic Senator from Lousiana: Mary Landrieu. It seems that Senator Landrieu met with the lobbyists for a business owned a man named Randy Best, a Republican fundraiser. Senator Landrieu then met with Randy Best in person, and her staff asked Best to arrange a fundraiser for her 2008 Senate re-election campaign. At that fundraiser, Landrieu received thirty thousand dollars in checks from people associated with Randy Best’s business, an educational supplies company.
Just four days after that fundraiser, Senator Landrieu inserted an earmark into legislation to fund Washington D.C. schools. The earmark gave two million dollars worth of business to Randy Best’s company, for materials that the D.C. schools had not requested.
Corruption was not just a problem Tom DeLay and Jack Abramoff, and Republicans aren’t the only nasty right wingers. Senator Mary Landrieu rated lower on our progressive legislative scorecard for last year than some Republicans.
The lesson for the 2008 presidential election is this: The Democratic nomination process isn’t just about finding a presidential candidate who can defeat a Republican opponent. It needs to also be about finding a presidential candidate who is worthy of the trust of the Democratic Party’s nomination.
When there isn’t any strong disagreement within the Democratic Party, when a group of party insiders is allowed to exert too much influence over the nomination process, the Democrats get corrupt, right wing politicians like Mary Landrieu. Democrats need to participate, and not just at the ballot box, but with a long deliberation before voting actually begins.
Those voters who only try to choose a candidate the day before they vote will get the leaders they deserve, whether that’s for Louisiana or for the entire United States.
Get engaged now, and make sure that the candidate who pulls at your heartstrings isn’t a Mary Landrieu in disguise.

Then you better not vote for Harry Reid, Diane Feinstein, Barak Obama, Hillary Clinton, Robert Byrd, or Ted Kennedy to name a few.
Everyone of these people have been involved with something ILLEAGAL , whether it be campaign donations (HC) steering money to family (DF), Shady land deals(HR, HC, BO) involvement with extremist organisations (RB) or just flat out got someone killed or did it themselves (TK, HC)
Democrats aren’t “progressive”. They are the most hate-filled people I know.

But George W. Bush hasn’t done anything illegal, right, right winger?
Or are you trying to defend Mary Landrieu by saying that breaking the law is okay?
“Shady land deals” were never found to be illegal with Hillary Clinton, and I’ve never heard of such a thing with Barack Obama. Care to illuminate me?
