Read Mike Huckabee’s January 14 statement on the Constitution, his interpretation of God, and his political agenda. Read it very carefully:

I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution, but I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the Living God, and that’s what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than try to change God’s standards so it lines up with some contemporary view of how we treat each other and how we treat the family.

Do you notice what Huckabee’s done? He’s straight-out acknowledged that his policy agenda is incompatible with the Constitution. Mike Huckabee has agreed with his critics on an important point — that the Huckabee agenda cannot be accomplished without amending the Constitution. This means something very practical, that unless and until the Constitution is amended along the lines that Mike Huckabee proposes, he is obligated if elected president to drop his conservative social agenda. I mean, the job description of the president is to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States”. Because Mike Huckabee believes the Constitution doesn’t match “God’s standards,” as a matter of consistency he ought to repudiate “God’s standards” as a plan for presidential policy until the Constitution itself is amended. If Huckabee is unwilling to take that step, then he is not fit for office and needs to quit the presidential race.
